Italy had a lucky start against Chile, and managed to hold off the
terrible, last-minute Austrians; for a place in the Second Round.

Against Norway, in the Second Round, Italy effectively killed off the
match when Vieri scored his fifth goal of the tournament; in the eighteenth minute.
Quarter-Finals
3rd July: vs. France (0:0 aet) in Saint-Denis.
Italy didn't look much much livelier against France, in the
quarter-finals; scoring a blank and losing on penalties.
