World Cup Appearances:
France 1998 was South Africa's 1st appearance in the World Cup Finals.
Best World Cup Performance:
South Africa won the African Nations Cup in 1996, at the first attempt, even if it was
held on home soil.
Politics and sport shouldn't mix, but sadly they do have their
knock-on effects. Because of the Apartheid system, South Africa had to wait until 1992 to
join the International sporting community again.
Group C
12th June: vs. France
(0:3) in Marseilles.
18th June: vs. Denmark
(1:1) in Toulouse.
24th June: vs. Saudi

Two draws weren't quite enough for South Africa to taste more World
