Spain Reserves See Off Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia vs Spain
Kaiserslautern
Previous Encounters:
Saudi Arabia and Spain have never met before the Germany 2006 World Cup Finals.
The Match:
Spain are already qualified while Saudi Arabia need to score four goals and hope that
Ukraine and Tunisia draw. Mathematically possible; realistically, not.
Gutierrez Juanito headed in Jose Antonio Reyes' free-kick in the 36th
minute, to just about kill off any possible chance Saudi Arabia might have had.
If the other game remains a draw, Ukraine will join Spain in the Second Round.
Spain made most of the first-half attacking and Mabrouk Zaid made a
few crucial saves to keep the score respectable at the break.
Half-time: (0:1).
David Villa replaced Raul at half-time but, although Spain failed to
increase the scorline in the second-half, the Spaniards go through to the Second Round; as
group winners.
Saudi Arabia had a few chances to level the score towards the end but
they were never really a match for the Spain reserves.
Final Score:
Saudia Arabia 0 - Spain 1
Goalscorers:
0:1 Gutierrez Juanito (36)
