Denmark vs Japan in Rustenburg.

Denmark needed to win this game, while a draw would have been enough for Japan.

Japan took the lead in the 17th minute as Keisuke Honda fired in a direct free-kick that left Thomas Sorensen with no chance.

Then on the half-hour, another free-kick to Japan; which Yasuhito Endo curled around the wall and out of Sorensen's reach again.

Japan continued to look for the third goal, Yuichi Komano forcing Sorensen to tip the ball over for a corner.

Half-time: 0:2

In the 48th minute, Yasuhito Endo almost scored from another free-kick as Sorensen could only flap the ball onto his post.

Ten minutes from the end, Denmark were awarded a penalty after Daniel Agger was pushed. Jon Dahl Tomasson saw his penalty saved but he just managed to follow up; pulling his thigh muscle in the process.

The icing on the cake was provided by Keisuke Honda for Shinji Okazaki.
