Third African Team Stumbles
Nigeria vs South Korea
in Durban.
Nigeria could still qualify; if they beat South Korea and
Argentina win against Greece.
Nigeria got off to the perfect start when Kalu Uche put the West
Africans in front, with just 12 minutes played.
Just minutes after Kalu Uche hit the post, South Korea drew level; Lee
Jung-Soo getting to Ki Sung-Yeung's free kick; stooped to head the ball then hit it past
Enyeama.
Half-time: 1:1
Early in the second-half, South Korea moved ahead of Nigeria through a
beautifully taken free-kick by Park Chu-Young.
A clumsy tackle by Kim Nam-Il on Chinedu Ogbuke earned Nigeria a
penalty; scored by Yakubu - to make up for his earlier 'miss of the tournament'.
Nigeria had a couple of chances in the closing minutes, through
substitute Victor Obinna but South Korea held on to qualify alongside Argentina. Nigeria
become the third African team to leave the tournament.
