Group C
Japan vs Greece in Natal.
Match Preview
Japan and Greece played each other in Frankfurt, during the 2005
FIFA Confederations Cup.
Japan won the group stage game (1:0).
The Match
Greece and Japan failed to score a goal, thus Colombia advanced to
the second round.
Kostas Katsouranis was dismissed in the 38th minute for receiving his second
booking within eleven minutes. Some people just don't learn.
Japan may have felt they had a chance in the second-half, but a
ten-man Greece only proved more resilient, as is often the case.
Shinji
Kagawa was introduced in the 57th minute, for Yuya Osako.
The result could have been different had Yoshito Okubo, arriving free
at the far post, not wasted his chance.
Maya Yoshida was also off target, before Georgios Samaras tried to
break the deadlock and snatch a winner for Greece at the other end.
