Argentina's Primera Division is contested by twenty clubs; with the season divided into two tournaments, the Inicial and Final.

The most famous football clubs in Argentina are Boca Juniors, River Plate, Independiente (Avellaneda), Racing (Avellaneda), San Lorenzo de Almagro, Estudiantes de La Plata, Newell's Old Boys (Rosario) and Rosario Central.

For the 2015 season, ten teams will be promoted from Argentina's Primera B Nacional to create a new tournament with 30 teams.
