The African Super Cup is contested between the
winners of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
First held in 1993, the competition was originally contested between
the winners of the African Cup of Champions Clubs and African Cup Winners' Cup; until the
Cup Winners' Cup was discontinued in 2003.
