Spain vs Russia

Day four of Euro 2008 and it's back to Austria; for
a wet one in Innsbruck.
Spain kicked off, with Fernando Torres and David Villa leading the
attack.
After spending the first fifteen minutes kicking the Spaniards, the
Russians finally strung a couple of good moves together.
However, it was Spain who created the better opening; with Fernando
Torres and David Villa combining to put Spain ahead.
Russia replied with a shot on the post at the other end.
Even though Yuri Zhirkov and Konstatin Zurianov looked lively, Russia
wasted the ball on a number of occasions by just pumping it up the field; to no-one.
When Russia again lost possession, just before half-time, Iniesta and
Villa made them pay for it.

A half-time change by Guus Hiddink saw the paycey Vladimir Bystrov
come on for the somewhat ineffective Dmitri Sychev.
Hiddink wasn't too impressed with that one either and took the
substitute off in the 70th minute, for more of a centre-forward type player.
Villa scored his hat-trick in the 75th minute, as Russia's questions
continue to go unanswered.
Roman Pavluchenko had Russia's best chance in the second-half;
shooting wide in the 80th minute. Then the scorer of two goals against England finally
earned a consolation goal; diving a header into the roof of the net six minutes later.
Then into stoppage time, hat-trick hero David Villa waited to scoop
over the Russian defence to Xavi on the right. Igor Akinfeev saved the initial shot, but
Cesc Fŕbregas was on hand to dive a header into the half-open goal.
One other thing to note, is the Austrian referee didn't show one
yellow card all game.
After the final whistle, Xabi Alonso tried to get the match ball off
the referee to give to David Villa, but Konrad Plautz held onto it.
