III Winter Olympic Games.
The third Winter Olympics were held during a depression, but there
was nothing depressing for the teenager Sonja Henie; as the Norwegian successfully
defended her figure skating title.
Gillis Grafström didn't manage to win a fourth gold medal; coming in
behind Karl Schäfer of Austria.
Billy Fiske delighted the home crowd with a second gold medal in the
four-man bobsleigh while Eddie Eagan, a member of Fiske’s gold-winning team, had also
won a gold medal at the 1920 Antwerp Olympics
(light-heavyweight boxing); to become the only person in Olympic history to earn gold
medals in both Summer and Winter Olympics.
