Euro 2024 - European Championship Matches in Cologne
It took a while for VAR to decide, but london-born Kwadwo Duah's 12th minute goal for Switzerland was allowed to stand; thanks to the defence-splitting accuracy of Aebischer's through ball and Duah's own sublime timing to get the better of the last Hungarian defender.
Switzerland doubled the lead just before half-time, when Bologna's Michel Aebischer showed his class once again; with a low curl executed to great effect. Creative, calm and collected.
The commentary box might have said that Hungary were winning the game, but a Barnabás Varga goal in the 66th minutes didn't actually put Hungary in the lead. Maybe I know nothing about football.
So, far from 'winning it', Hungary were played out of the Kölner Park. Maybe a wooden spooner against Scotland in Stuttgart to stir the goulash with will be the highlight of their lofty ambitions.
Scott McTominay's deflected shot got Scotland off to the perfect start in the 13th minute.
Thiteen minutes later, Xherdan Shaqiri pounced on a sloppy back pass from Anthony Ralston, to equalise.
Belgium scored their first goal at the tournament after strong hold up play by Lukaku, before laying the ball back into Youri Tielemans's stride; for the third fastest goal in the history of the European Championships.
Lukaku had his third goal of the tournament disallowed, for offside, before Kevin De Bruyne made it two for Belgium in the 80th minute; running on to a long ball forward, for a great solo effort.
England failed to answer any of the questions being asked of them. They may be top of the group, but the cream isn't rising.
Knockout Stage - The Road to Berlin.
After a shock Robin Le Normand own goal in the 18th minute, Spain's pressure paid off when Rodri leveled six minutes before half-time.
Once Rodri put Spain in front, shortly after the restart, added goals from Nico Williams and Dani Olmo were just a formality; Georgia were no longer at the races.
To Stuttgart for the quarter-final.
Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart.
