Somebody wanted to add their Webcam URL to Travel Notes. I went to the site and the camera was down.

Good start, but it got me looking around.

Virtual Travel

Rather than illustrate another article with some of my photographs, I thought I'd let the pictures that no one takes be the feature of this 'travel article'.

Let's go on a virtual journey, live around the World; and if a picture says a thousand words, we'll let the webcams talk you to death.

It was a hard choice, because there are literally hundreds if not thousands of pictures being beamed through Cyberspace every few seconds.

Africam:
If you're lucky, you might get to see some African wildlife on Safari.

Antarctica Penguin Cam:
From October to April, observe a colony of Gentoo penguins from the O'Higgins German Research Station on the Antarctic Peninsula.

Boardwalk:
Take a trip to Bethany Beach in Delaware without getting sand between your toes.

Cabo San Lucas:
Land’s End, the signature vista of Cabo San Lucas, is a highlight of the beautiful views seen from Casa Dorada, one of Cabo’s newest resorts.

Central London Jam Cams:
Travel around the centre of London on red double-deckers and avoid the traffic jams - Strand, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly, Charing Cross Road and many more.

Firenze:
One of the jewels in the Italian crown of culture is beamed around the world.

Florida Keys Underwater Fish Cam:
This cam is live in Key West, Florida mounted under an anchored 40ft boat. A flood light gets turned on at night which ignites the fish to feed.

Frankfurt - Financial Centre of Germany:
View the trading hall of Brse Frankfurt or watch the DAX chart for a rise and fall in German finance.

Hong Kong Cams:
Live webcast of road traffic conditions around Hong Kong.

Jasper Webcam:
Located at the top of the Athabasca Hotel in Downtown Jasper, Alberta.

Krakow Kamera:
The page is in Polish, but it really doesn't matter. Krakow is a must see if you visit Poland, and if you can't then take a peek from your desk top.

Mount Fuji Cam:
A 24-hour look at Japan's Mt. Fuji, with archives of the best pictures.

New York - Times Square:
If you've got the time, you can view the centre of Manhattan from a number of camera angles. If you've always wanted to be there on New Year's Eve, just click into the archives.

Pacific Beach - San Diego, California:
Live surf camera. Best viewed during daylight hours, Pacific Standard Time.

Piazza Camillo Prampolini:
Enjoy a passing view of Renaissance Italy, from Reggio Emilia's Piazza Grande.

Prague Cam:
A revolving view of Prague from the Pachtuv Palace Hotel.

Samui Cam:
Thailand's first Internet live cam comes from the island of Koh Samui.

Spinola Bay in Malta:
View from the balcony of one of the sea-view rooms at the Hotel Juliani.

Swiss Webcams:
Magnificent Alpine views through a variety of weather cams on lakes and peaks around Switzerland.

Union Square Webcam:
Live from Blue Fountain Media offices on New York's Park Ave South.

Vancouver North Webcam:
Views of the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre and Canada Place cruise ship terminal where you can watch the Alaska cruise ships arrive and depart. You can also see the Translink SeaBus waterfront station where the seabuses travel across Vancouver's scenic Burrard Inlet to Lonsdale Quay in the City of North Vancouver every 15 minutes during peak hours.

And last but not least.....

Western Wall Cam:
A view of the Western Wall in Jerusalem; where you can also have a prayer placed in the wall or listen to spiritual music. Women pray on the right.
