The name Advantage Rent a Car first appeared during the company's
expansion in 1985, although Kenneth Walker started the ball rolling back in 1963; by
serving the large military population in San Antonio, Texas with 'Three Ninety-Nine Car
Rentals'.
Following the death of Kenneth, in 2006, the Walker heirs sold the
business.
Advantage filed for bancrupcy in 2008. The assets of Advantage were
later purchased by The Hertz Corporation, the following year; after successfully
outbidding Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Minnesota bankruptcy court.
