How You Can Turn Expertise or Interests into a Sustainable Business

If you’re ready to unlock the power of online communities, Skool could be your ticket to building, growing, and monetising your own thriving membership site.

Skool

What is Skool?

Online communities have evolved far beyond simple chat rooms or forums. They now serve as powerful hubs for income, learning, and genuine connections.

Skool isn't just another platform, it’s a proven launchpad for online entrepreneurs where real people seek real results.

Learning Hubs

Communities on Skool foster peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.

Whether it’s coding forums, hobbyist groups, or professional networks, members exchange resources, tutorials, and real-time advice that accelerate learning far beyond traditional methods.

Real Relationships

Despite the virtual format, these communities can cultivate deep, authentic relationships.

Shared interests and goals create bonds that often translate into real-world friendships, collaborations, and support systems.

Source of Income

Many creators, entrepreneurs, and professionals monetise their presence within Skool communities to offer exclusive content, and generate steady revenue streams.

Thoughts on Using Skool as a Platform for Building a Business

Skool is gaining traction as a platform where people can create communities, sell courses, and build businesses around their talents or services.

Its ambitious goal of reaching a billion users reflects its potential scale and impact.

Key Points to Consider for Success on Skool

Focus on Business

Like any business, you need a product, service, or talent to offer.

You must align your Skool community with your long-term goals and build it deliberately.

Patience and Persistence

Income won’t start flowing overnight.

It takes time to build trust, grow your audience, and refine your offerings.

Using Business Techniques

Marketing, customer engagement, and monetisation strategies are essential.

Some users find success by combining ads with organic growth to reach their audience without relying on social media algorithms.

Value Delivery

Focus on delivering consistent value to your community to build loyalty and encourage paid memberships or sales.

Word of Caution

Many newcomers join with high hopes but without a clear plan or understanding that building a sustainable business takes time, effort, and strategic thinking.

Skool provides the infrastructure, with community tools and a scalable paywall, but it’s up to the user to apply solid business principles, marketing strategies, and consistent value delivery to grow their community and monetise it effectively.

To be honest, I'm still not sure if Skool really attracts people looking for community, or those hoping to monetise on creating a community; probably a bit of both.

There are also plenty of people trying to make money showing other people how to make money, by investing in them; something of a money-making scheme for Skool investors, above all else.

If you don’t know where you're going, any road will take you there; but if implemented correctly, Skool has potential for everyone.

Communities on Skool

You can easily Discover Communities on Skool yourself, but here are a few suggestions that might help point you in the right direction.

All listed communities should be free to join, with some possibly offering premium levels but from my experience all of these creators are very helpful.
