Michael Owen's first goal of the tournament arrived in the third minute of the first quarter-final, thanks to a mistake in the Portuguese defence.... and what a goal!

David James' long kick was carelessly backheaded by Francisco Costinha and when Jorge Andrade failed to clear, Michael Owen seemed to turn 360 degrees to flick the ball over Ricardo.

Portugal's first real chance fell to Nuno Maniche in the 8th minute... tipped over the bar by David James.

Again Portugal pushed forward, trying to find the equaliser to quiten down the England fans.... Figo's low cross from the right almost converted by Nuno Gomes.

Star of the tournament, Wayne Rooney, hobbled out of the game in the 27th minute -- replaced by Darius Vassell.

England held onto their lead for what seemed like an eternity but Scolari got lucky with his replacement for Luis Figo again.... this time Helder Postiga coming on for the Portugal captain and heading his country level in 82 minutes.

In the last minute of normal time, David Beckham's free-kick was headed onto the bar by Michael Owen....  Sol Campbell headed the rebound into the net but the Swiss referee, Urs Meier, disallowed it because John Terry impeded Ricardo.

Into Extra-time.....

110 Mins..... Advantage Portugal... Rui Costa's shot goes in off the underside of the bar.

115mins.... Deuce..... England pull level... David Beckam's corner from the right is headed down by John Terry... to Frank Lampard.... who turns it in.
