Travel Writers Writing About Travel

An airline alliance is an arrangement between airlines to extend the number of destinations through code sharing; increasing benefits to airline passengers.

All the major European airlines are part of one of the three largest passenger airline alliances.

Oneworld, SkyTeam, Star Alliance.

Airline Alliance Benefits

An airline alliance can benefit the airlines involved by providing a form of safety and profitability in numbers.

Airline passengers can also benefit from airline alliances by having a beter network of connectivity and possibilities of cheaper Round The World Flight Tickets on codeshare connections.

Air travellers gain their frequent flyer rewards faster by earning miles for a single account on several different carriers.

Oneworld - Founded 1998

With member airlines spread evenly around the world, flying to more than 850 destinations in 150 countries, Oneworld is a good alliance for planning a long, multi-point trip such as a RTW.
